Specifically, 91% of power and utilities executives and 85% of their counterparts in oil and gas and chemicals believe that their organizations' capability to adapt to digital technology is crucial for future success. Despite this consensus, a striking disparity exists in actual practices.
While 92% of energy companies express intentions to invest in digital technologies, only 27% are currently focused on retraining and reskilling their existing employees. This gap raises concerns about the industry's preparedness to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
As digital transformation accelerates, the need for a skilled workforce becomes increasingly critical. Companies may need to reassess their priorities and strategies to ensure that their employees are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in this new environment. The challenge lies in translating acknowledgment into action, ensuring that investment in human capital matches the commitment to technological advancement.
