Governor Gretchen Whitmer has moved to ensure continuity in the state's critical technology operations by appointing an interim director. The governor named Tanya Paslawski, the current deputy state budget director, to serve as the acting director of the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB).
Paslawski steps into the role following the departure of the previous director. She brings significant financial and administrative experience from her tenure within the state's budget office, where she oversaw complex fiscal planning and operations. The DTMB is a cornerstone agency, responsible for the state's information technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, procurement, and internal management services.
In a statement, Governor Whitmer expressed confidence in Paslawski's ability to lead the department during this transitional period. The appointment is effective immediately, though the timeline for naming a permanent director remains unclear. The move aims to maintain stability and forward momentum on the state's key technology initiatives, including ongoing efforts to modernize digital services for residents and safeguard state data systems.
