Arizona Burn Center introduces advanced Helix SCAR3 laser technology for scar healing

The Diane and Bruce Halle Arizona Burn Center at Valleywise Health has added a powerful new tool to its treatment options. The facility recently acquired the Helix SCAR3 laser, making it the only medical center in Arizona to offer this specific technology for scar healing.

This advanced laser system is designed to improve the appearance and texture of scars, particularly those resulting from burns, surgery, or traumatic injuries. Unlike older laser treatments, the Helix SCAR3 uses a unique combination of wavelengths to target both the color and the thickness of scar tissue. It can reduce redness, flatten raised scars, and improve overall skin flexibility. For burn patients, this can mean less pain and a greater range of motion in affected areas.

Doctors at the center say the laser is a significant step forward. Traditional scar management often involves pressure garments, silicone sheets, or multiple surgical revisions. The Helix SCAR3 offers a less invasive option that can be tailored to each patient's specific scar type. Treatments are done on an outpatient basis, and patients typically see gradual improvement over several sessions.

The acquisition reinforces the burn center's role as a leader in specialized care. It serves patients from across the state and the Southwest, many of whom previously had to travel out of state for this level of laser treatment. The center plans to use the new technology not only for burn survivors but also for patients dealing with other types of scarring, including those from accidents or surgeries.
